How Logling's data visualizations work

Logling turns the data you log into charts automatically. As you add entries, tag them, and attach structured data, Logling builds visualizations so you can spot habits and patterns over time.

The best place to see this is a tag page. Open any tag and Logling shows you how often you use it, plus charts built from the structured and raw data on those entries.

Frequency of use

Every tag page starts with a “Frequency of use” chart - a simple view of how many entries use that tag over time. It’s the quickest way to see whether a habit is picking up or trailing off.

Visualizing your structured data

When your entries carry structured data, Logling renders a dedicated chart for each schema you’ve used. Each visualization is tailored to that schema, plotting its fields in whatever way makes the most sense for that data type. When you have more than one schema, the charts scroll horizontally so you can browse them all.

Raw data associated with your tags

Raw (unstructured) data attached to your entries is charted too, under “Raw data associated with your tags”. Numeric properties are plotted over time and categorical properties are summarised, giving you a feel for your data even before it fits a schema.

The more detail you add to your entries - tags, structured data, and raw data - the richer these visualizations become.
