Protect password sign-in with an authenticator app

Logling can protect password sign-in with a second step from an authenticator app. After you enter your password, you’ll also enter a 6-digit code from your app. If you still use a password to sign in, this setup is recommended.

Why we recommend it

An authenticator app makes password sign-in much harder for someone else to use, even if they somehow learn your password. If you have not moved fully to passkeys, this is the best extra protection to add.

Set up an authenticator app

  1. Sign in to Logling.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Find the Authenticator app section.
  4. Click Set up authenticator app.
  5. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or enter the setup key manually.
  6. Enter the current 6-digit code from your app.
  7. Click Verify and enable.

Save your recovery codes

After setup, Logling shows recovery codes. Save them before leaving the page.

Recovery codes are one-time backup codes. You can use one if you cannot access your authenticator app.

What changes after setup?

When you sign in with your password, Logling will ask for either:

  • the current code from your authenticator app, or
  • one unused recovery code

If you sign in with a passkey, this extra password-based step does not apply.

Disable authenticator app sign-in

  1. Open Settings.
  2. In Authenticator app, choose Disable authenticator app.
  3. Enter your current authenticator code or a recovery code.
  4. Confirm the change.

Good recovery habits

  • Keep your recovery codes somewhere safe.
  • Replace used recovery codes by setting the feature up again if needed later.
  • Prefer a passkey as an additional sign-in option if your device supports it.
